Load cells come in many sizes, capacities and accuracies. There are also many different types of load cells. Below is a list: – Off center load cell – Bending beam – Shear beam – Double-shear beam – Single column load cells – Multi-column load cells – Compression load cells – Tension load cells – Pancake load cell – “S” cell Most weighing sensors also have installation kits. These are necessary if you want to use a weighing sensor for silo weighing.
Where are these weighing sensors used?
Load cells are mainly used for measuring forces and (mechanical) stresses. Some well-known examples are: – Electronic scales; – Weighing tanks and containers; – Weighing vehicles (cars, train wagons, etc.); – Weighing aircraft (a platform with a load cell is placed in front of each landing gear, the aircraft is pulled onto the platforms by a tractor). – In small scales (such as letter scales, kitchen and diet scales, shop scales, personal scales, etc.) the metal element with the strain gauge is an integral part of the scale. This is therefore not a complete weighing element purchased from third parties, which is why the term load cell is less common for these instruments.
