What do the different IP classes stand for?
The IP classes indicate the water resistance of a scale. The term IP stands for International Protection. The standards are set in the form of an IEC standard by the International Electrotechnical Commission in Geneva. The various IP classes are therefore applied internationally and provide the user with information about the protection of each electronic product. Below is an overview:
- IP 65: Completely dust-tight and protected against water jets
- IP 66: Completely dust-tight and protected against powerful water spray and heavy rain
- IP 67: Completely dust-tight and protected against immersion in water.
- IP68 / IP69K: Completely dust and waterproof. The scale is protected against immersion in water and can be cleaned with (high) water pressure.
